Little Washington Winery

72 Christmas Tree Lane

Washington Virginia

Open Fri-Sun 11am-5ish

Sit back & Enjoy

There are many wineries in Virginia Wine Country, but this one is a true find. From the moment you enter, you know that you are welcome guests. The owners love what they are doing and make sure you enjoy your visit. Little Washington Winery's own five wines were amazing and the Dirt Road Wine Tour was so much fun. All the wines were lovely, the surroundings were beautiful and the invitation to experience their generous hospitality made for a lovely afternoon.

1 of the Top Ten

Virginia Wineries with a View

Everyone agrees Little Washington Winery has the best million dollar view in Rappahannock County, Virginia. We say it has got to be one of the best views in the entire Commonwealth. A must do - sip a glass of wine while you gaze at an absolutely stunning and ever changing panoramic vista of  the Blue Ridge mountains from the Eastern edge of Shenandoah National Park.

Warm Welcomes,

Beautiful Views and Great Wines

Little Washington Winery is one of the newest on the Virginia wine scene, and in my opinion one of the best. Located on a high hill overlooking the Shenandoah Mountains, the view can be beat only by the hospitality of hosts, Donna and Carl, and their great selection of wines. Along with their own 8 great wines, they do something different than everyone else, the "Dirt Road Wine Tour" showing great wines from other tiny farms you won't have found anywhere else. While we love Virginia wines, an around the world tour was a delightful change of pace. They are located a block or so "up the dirt road" from the prettiest drive in VA, Highway 211.

This is one of the greatest locations we've seen for a winery! It's absolutely breath-taking. The owners are awesome people, we had so much fun with our tasting. We proceeded to buy a bottle of wine & a meat and cheese platter to enjoy on their back patio overlooking the hills & mountains. Don't pass this one up on your travels! They change the tasting wines up so it's never the same - very cool. We will absolutely be back!

We Eloped

My husband and I got married at Little Washington Winery and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful setting. There is nothing quite like sitting on that deck overlooking the mountains. Carl and Donna couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. Can't wait to go back!

We LOVED every minute of Wine Bootcamp!  If you guys ever do an advanced bootcamp OR a "follow-up session" please get the word out - we would definitely sign up!

Very Personal Attention

Carl was most knowledgeable, informative and helpful with all of our wine questions. The tasting was amazing, and we took home several great finds, particularly a Cab-blend called "George."

Different EVERY Time

This is a winery where I was intrigued by their business plan and would love to go back again. When I visited, there were 5 in-house wines to try, and 3 "Dirt Road" wines to try. I absolutely adore this concept. I am a huge wine lover and love any chance I get to learn about wine. The fact that Little Washington Winery's owner takes the time to curate wines from the farthest (and tiniest) corners of the map makes me happy. The owners are very friendly, knowledgeable and clearly enjoy their craft. A return trip must be planned so I can see what new wines they have rotated ont the Dirt Road list!

Nice Wines Beautiful View

Stopped by Little Washington Winery on Sun. I had tried some of their wines at a recent wine festival and wanted to see their tasting room, as well as sample some more wines. The wines produced at the winery were very good and the staff very knowledgeable. A nice touch was their presentation of some wines from 3 other small wineries, which they call their "dirt road tour". The staff told me that they open bottles from different wineries each day. We got to taste wines from Arizona, Idaho, Italy and Spain and all were good choices at nice prices. The view from the tasting room  deck offered a beautiful vista of rolling hills and the Blue Ridge Mtns. and is a great place to drink a nice glass (or bottle) of wine.

Hospitable, Good Wine

This was our first stop when we arrived in Washington, and was the perfect start. The staff couldn't have been nicer, and the views from the vineyard are gorgeous. We brought a picnic lunch and dined on the deck.

Great Place

This winery only has 8 wines (2 are sold out) but they are good. The day we were there the vintner was having us taste 2 of his chardonnays  - one aged in steel and the other in oak.  Because they have so few of their own wines they also take you on a tasting tour of great wines you don't find on the market. We tasted wine from  Idaho, Arizona New Mexico and Missouri. On another occassion we tasted wine from Hawaii, France, Michigan and Austria. It was very interesting and the vintner told wonderful stories of the regions and the wines. We like their wine, we like their tasting room, we like the Dirt Road wine tour. You never know from one weekend to the next what wines you might taste.
